My father and I are both veterans and get treatment at VA Nebraska. My dad deals with PTSD and was severely injured during his service, and was prescribed opioids long ago. My mother and I were completely oblivious that there was an issue until it began to affect the finances…Now he has been going to the substance abuse program for a few months, and it’s been pretty great. The staff has always treated us well for other medical needs, so I can’t say I’m surprised. I’m grateful the VA Medical Center has this program so that we don’t have to bring my father somewhere else. Honestly, I don’t think he would get help if it were anywhere else.
