About Salvation Army Midtown Service and Treatment Center
The Salvation Army Midtown Service and Treatment Center is a 22,500-square-foot, cutting-edge residential facility for adults facing substance use disorders and co-occurring conditions. It’s nestled in the Washington Avenue Historic District of Downtown West St. Louis, Missouri, just a mile east of the Dr. George Ashe Bronson House. They’re part of the Salvation Army’s wider mission to bring hope and healing to adults impacted by substance use disorders across the Independent City of St. Louis.
The facility fosters a structured, secure and supportive environment where individuals can focus on healing, build essential life skills and work towards long-term sobriety. They serve individuals from diverse backgrounds, especially those whose past trauma may be fueling their substance use, such as veterans and others with histories of adversity.
Individuals receive support in this facility each month through detox and residential services. They help keep care affordable by accepting Medicaid and DMH funding
Continuum of Care for Sustained Wellness
Recovery at this facility begins with detoxification, guided by a thorough intake screening and assessment to tailor care from the start. This short-term procedure helps manage withdrawal symptoms safely, laying the foundation for long-term treatment and recovery. It’s a social detox, so you won’t be given medication during the procedure.
Instead, trained staff provide continuous support and monitoring to help you safely manage symptoms. Once stabilized, you’ll transition into structured residential programming that may last up to 30 days. Daily activities include structured therapeutic sessions that draw from proven methods to foster emotional resilience and support long-term success via the development of robust relapse prevention mechanisms.
Psychiatric Services For Healing
The program incorporates trauma-informed care to help you process past experiences and rebuild a sense of safety and self-worth. You’ll also receive psychiatric services such as medication management as part of coordinated support to address co-occurring mental health conditions.
Family involvement is emphasized through education and counseling that promote positive family dynamics. Additionally, you’ll have access to a case manager who’ll guide you in navigating recovery goals and assist with housing, medical care, employment and other personal needs.
