About Cook Inlet Tribal Council

The Cook Inlet Tribal Council is located in Anchorage, Alaska and is far more than a standard treatment facility. This tribal non profit started in 1983 and delivers a unique approach to well being, particularly in its specialized recovery and educational offerings. It’s a place where every program is infused with an understanding of Alaska Native values, making it truly distinctive.

Anchorage’s Recovery Sanctuary with Detox and MAT

The range of programs offered by CITC incorporates recovery services that include both medication assisted treatment ((MAT) as well as supervised detox. Their extensive MAT program includes counseling and psychotherapy in addition to prescribing methadone, Subutex or Vivitrol. During detox they can provide other medications too that will help with withdrawal symptoms like Prozac.

Inpatient and Outpatient Detox

CITC offers inpatient adult and teen detox as well as outpatient options where medically supervised withdrawal takes place. Beyond this, CITC offers unique therapeutic modalities such as CBT and CAMA-M, where incentives are provided for positive behaviors. They reward successful clients with Community Reinforcement Plus Vouchers which encourage wholesome participation in community activities.

Culturally Relevant Residential Treatment

This organization also has a residential treatment center called the Chanlyut program. Along with treatment and reentry services they incorporate Alaska Native cultural practices and traditional foods to enhance recovery.

Innovative Spaces for Growth and Healing

A truly standout feature that this organization has outside of their addiction program is the Denełchin Lab, a cutting edge “Super Fab Lab” born from a partnership with MIT. They use advanced technology like 3D printers, laser cutters, and robotic routers to engage youth and community members in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math).

What makes it unique is its fusion of modern tech with ancestral knowledge, even incorporating Dena’ina Qenaga language into recycling programs. This blend of high tech innovation with deep cultural respect creates an environment where learning and personal growth are inextricably linked to heritage, offering a distinct and powerful pathway to empowerment.
