Once the treatment team has all your pertinent information, they’ll develop a custom treatment plan to help you through detox. The plan treats your physical, mental, and emotional health. You may be given medications to ease any uncomfortable withdrawal symptoms you may have. Detox usually lasts about 5-7 days but everyone is unique, so you may take less or more time.

While in detox, you’ll receive treatment from licensed counselors, social workers, nurse practitioners, clinical psychologists, dieticians, and other professionals. You’ll participate in individual and group therapy. If appropriate, you’ll meet with a psychiatrist for medication management for your mental health needs.

Group therapy sessions include psychoeducation groups, process groups, and dietary groups. There are also activity groups and creative therapy groups. You may also have family therapy which is scheduled and conducted by your case manager. After detox and inpatient treatment, your treatment team can help you decide on your next steps which may include the intensive outpatient program.
