New Lehigh County Detox Center Expands Addiction Care

Lehigh County is getting a new detox treatment center. And supporters say that, for many, that’ll mean no more hour-long drives day in and day out to access the detox services and recovery meds they need to get clean–and stay that way.

A New Era of Recovery in the Lehigh Valley

On Friday, November 14th, in Slatington, Pennsylvania, the public was invited to participate in the ribbon-cutting ceremony for Lehigh County’s brand new addiction treatment center. Located on Main Street in Slatington, the new Treatment Trends Slatington Outpatient Center is the latest project funded by Lehigh County’s opioid settlement payments.

Thanks to this new outpatient treatment center, addiction treatment services have been made far more accessible for residents of northern Lehigh County. Before, residents would have to travel to Allentown or Bethlehem to receive treatment, which could make scheduling more challenging for individuals because of the longer travel times. 

The new center serves as an expansion in the county’s overall capacity to provide treatment as well as a concerted effort to provide care to those who may have felt overlooked.

Officials Responding to Their Constituents’ Needs

Joe Martellucci, the Drug and Alcohol Administrator for Lehigh County, explained how they identified the best site for the treatment center. He said that residents who were eager to get into a treatment program were finding it difficult to travel south from the more rural areas in the northern part of the county. With this new location, these services are now much closer to these residents, making it far easier for them to get to their appointments.

With these needs in mind, a competitive bidding process was initiated in early 2024 to see which provider was most suited to meet them. Treatment Trends Inc. (TTI) won the contract and now offers intensive outpatient programs and standard outpatient treatment at the new clinic. Some of the treatments offered here include assessments, referrals, case management, and individual and group therapy.

Celebrating the Important Occasion

The grand opening celebration itself featured a buffet-style dinner and a resource fair where several community resource vendors provided information about the county’s helpful resources and public programs. State and county officials also made speeches, and everyone got to sit back and enjoy live entertainment as a part of the event.
