About Center for Solutions
The now-closed Center for Solutions in Cando, North Dakota, offered an alternative to 12 Step based substance use disorder treatment. It was in a secluded part of town, far from downtown and with plenty of privacy.
Across their many levels of care. which included detox, they created highly personalized treatment plans designed to confront a client’s thought patterns and promote change. This location has since been taken over by Heartview, which continues to offer substance use disorder recovery services and social detox.
Finding What Works
Center for Solutions’ approach to recovery was based in part on using client strengths they already had as the foundation for recovery. You would still learn new skills, of course, but by focusing on what you already know you’re capable of and reframing them in the context of substance abuse, your counselor would have the start of a roadmap to your recovery. Additionally, clients would have a point of encouragement and motivation right from the start.
Problem Solving Beyond Addiction
Their therapists also took a closer interest in your personal life outside of addiction. This allowed them to help you identify problems in other areas of life that could cause stress and potentially lead to relapse. This approach illustrates how everything is connected and why viewing addiction through a broad scope is so important to long term sobriety.
