About BD Health Services

BD Health is a network of opioid substance use treatment providers that offers medication-assisted treatment programs to clients struggling with opioid use disorder. Treatment plans are personalized to each client and focus on long-term recovery outcomes.

One of the great things about BD Health is that they offer early morning appointments, which allows clients to maintain their usual work or education commitments. This branch of BD Health is in Dundalk, Maryland.

Clients are helped to taper off opiate drugs using a combination of prescription medication and counseling. Methadone is used to help break a client’s chemical dependency on illicit opioids by blocking their euphoric effects, easing cravings, and reducing the intensity of withdrawal symptoms.

Alongside receiving methadone, clients work with substance use counselors to develop healthy coping strategies for daily stressors and triggers for use. Using 12 step principles, clients learn that they can manage the challenges of life without the temptation to use drugs.

Group counseling sessions are also available for sharing experiences and creating a sense of community and peer support. I appreciate that they also offer annual physicals to identify any medical issues, so clients can receive prompt treatment.

BSc

Having struggled with her mental health, Gemma has spent much of her writing career focused on topics surrounding behavioral health and stigmatized health issues, such as eating disorders, depression, obesity, and sexually transmitted diseases. It was a natural step to write about addiction, with her background in Biology and Research Science playing a key role in understanding chemical dependency as a disease. By writing about drug rehabilitation in an accessible and compassionate way, she hopes more people will feel encouraged to seek help.
