Devereux Hospital
About Devereux Hospital
Devereux Hospital is a residential behavioral health treatment center in Melbourne, Florida, focused on care for children and adolescents with substance use disorders, emotional challenges and developmental disabilities. The Viera Campus provides intensive residential treatment, acute psychiatric services and individual, group and family therapy on a secure 55 acre property with lake views. Families often note meaningful progress, consistent staff support, and the benefit of an on site accredited school that helps students remain academically engaged during treatment.
What Programs Does Devereux Hospital Offer?
Devereux offers intensive residential treatment and a statewide inpatient psychiatric program for children and adolescents ages 5 to 17 years who are experiencing substance use disorders and co occurring mental health conditions. Clinical services may include trauma focused cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, relapse prevention strategies, motivational interviewing, and 12 step facilitation.
I like that they offer additional programming that can involve activity based therapy and vocational rehabilitation services that encourage skill building and personal development. Care plans are individualized and structured to promote emotional regulation, behavioral stability, and long term recovery.
Campus Serves Youth with Dual Diagnosis
The campus serves youth ages 5 to 17 years who are living with serious emotional disturbance, dual diagnosis concerns, autism, intellectual disabilities, and developmental disabilities. Many residents have experienced trauma, including physical abuse, emotional abuse, or sexual abuse.
I like that they offer specialized services for youth impacted by commercial sexual exploitation through the DELTA track, children with sexually reactive behaviors, and LGBTQ youth who require a supportive and structured treatment setting. Programs are designed to provide safety, therapeutic intervention, and consistent supervision.
Specialized Programming for Youth
The 55 acre tropical campus in central Brevard County includes 6 residential units and an onsite kindergarten through grade 12 school with small class sizes. Educational services are integrated into each child’s treatment plan to maintain academic progress.
The campus also features a wellness center with 24/7 nursing coverage, a swimming pool, recreational areas, a playground, and a family center for visitation and involvement. Psychiatric services, pediatric endocrinology, and diabetes management are available on site to support comprehensive medical and behavioral health needs.
Devereux accepts Medicaid, Medicare, private health insurance, military insurance including Tricare, state financed plans, Veterans Affairs funding, and self payment. Sliding fee scales, payment assistance programs, and state and county government funding options may be available for families who qualify.
