MercyOne House of Mercy is a nonprofit treatment provider serving individuals and families across Central Iowa since 1988. The organization offers residential treatment for women, outpatient services for men, women and children and medication assisted treatment through evidence based practices including CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing and trauma informed care.
As part of the MercyOne healthcare network, House of Mercy provides compassionate and integrated care that addresses substance use, mental health and the whole person needs of those seeking recovery.
Iowa’s Leading Residential Program for Mothers and Children
House of Mercy operates Iowa’s largest residential treatment program for parenting women, offering 24/7 care where mothers can bring their children and maintain custody while receiving comprehensive substance use disorder and mental health treatment.
The program includes priority access for pregnant women and features an NAEYC accredited onsite Child Development Center, allowing mothers to focus on recovery while their children receive quality care.
Treatment combines individual and group therapy, trauma counseling, relapse prevention and specialized parenting programs like Circle of Security and Child Parent Psychotherapy.
Sessions address underlying issues while building practical skills for sustained recovery and healthy family relationships.
Outpatient and Medication Assisted Treatment Options
House of Mercy provides extended outpatient and intensive outpatient programs at three Central Iowa locations, plus outpatient medication assisted treatment with methadone, buprenorphine or naltrexone.
Walk in substance use disorder assessments are available Monday through Friday in Des Moines, making access to care simple and immediate for those ready to begin their recovery journey.
