About Oxford House Stride
Oxford House Stride is a sober living recovery house for women with children in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Residents share household responsibilities, manage the home democratically without a house manager, and can stay as long as they remain sober and nondisruptive and share in house expenses.
Most residents here have already completed inpatient or outpatient treatment before moving in, and living here serves as a step down in the care journey. While it’s not a treatment or detox center, residents can participate in outpatient medication assisted treatment or detox programs at another facility while living there. Folks also transition here from rehab, incarceration, homelessness or other unstable home environments.
Balancing Cost and Care in Sober Living
Insurance is not accepted here since it’s not a clinical facility, and residents pay an equal share of household expenses like rent, utilities and groceries. I like that sharing costs among residents helps to keep living here affordable.
Mutual accountability and peer support create a safe and nurturing sober living environment. Residents usually participate in 12 step programs or other recovery programs, and support each other in their sober journeys. I noticed that breaking house rules or relapsing usually results in immediate eviction for everyone’s safety.
Finding Stability and Family at an Oxford House for Moms with Kids
Residents repeatedly emphasize that the safe, structured environment with accountability and peer support helped them rebuild their lives. Many highlight the strong sense of community, the opportunity to develop life skills and the ability to regain family connections as key factors in their recovery.
One woman said, “Oxford House took me in at my lowest and provided a safe place to live, the structure and accountability to build a solid foundation of recovery, and the love of a family I’ve never had.”
