About Petty Creek Ranch
Petty Creek Ranch is a residential addiction treatment center for adolescent boys ages 12 to 18 in Alberton, Montana who are struggling with substance use and behavioral challenges. The program does not provide detox services but does include clinically managed high intensity care on a working ranch in the Bitterroot Mountains, blending treatment with vocational training and faith based support.
The structured environment typically lasts 9 to 18 months, giving young men time to heal, grow and build skills for lasting recovery. The staff may provide referrals to local facilities for clients requiring higher level care.
Intensive Treatment
The ranch provides 24 hour residential treatment with intensive individual, group and family counseling. The goal is to address any underlying causes of addiction and help clients work through past experiences that may have led to substance use.
Treatment includes medical and mental health assessments for more customized care planning. Their approaches include the 12-Step model and EMDR for trauma, equine-assisted therapy and adventure-based activities like rafting and backpacking. These activities keep guests engaged in recovery and working toward sustained sobriety.
Addressing Negative Behaviors
They work on behavioral issues such as depression, anger, ADHD, trauma, and oppositional behavior. The ranch also addresses academic challenges and emotional struggles related to family conflict or past abuse. Aftercare planning includes virtual meeting support and home visits from staff to establish continuing care networks before discharge.
The program does not currently accept insurance but offers private pay options with monthly tuition covering all treatment, housing, meals, activities and transportation. Financial assistance and scholarships are available for eligible families.
