About Serenity House Inc

Serenity House Inc is a private non-profit residential substance abuse treatment center in Wallingford, Vermont. The 24 bed co-ed program offers evidence based treatment including cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and 12 step methods for alcohol and opioid use disorders.

Medically Monitored Detox

The house specializes in providing safe medically supervised detox for alcohol and opioids through established protocols using medications like Buprenorphine and Librium. Registered Nurses are on site around the clock to ensure client safety and comfort during the detox process in a home like setting nestled in the Green Mountains.

Following detox the short term residential program combines individual and group counseling with the Alcoholics Anonymous model of abstinence. Licensed substance use disorder counselors create individualized treatment plans that incorporate relapse prevention, addiction education, and contingency management.

Access to Care for Everyone

Serenity House is committed to serving special populations often underserved in addiction treatment, including pregnant women, individuals with justice system involvement, and intravenous drug users. The facility operates with a philosophy of not turning away anyone who would benefit from treatment and recovery support services like mentoring, peer support, and comprehensive discharge planning.

The program is led by Dr. Nels Kloster, a board-certified addiction specialist, with a multidisciplinary team of experienced counselors and medical staff. The facility accepts Medicaid, private insurance, and state funded plans, and offers a sliding scale fee structure based on income with payment assistance available.
