About Red River Youth Academy of Norman

Red River Youth Academy of Norman is a residential mental health treatment center in Norman, Oklahoma, serving boys ages 8 to17 years and girls ages 12 to 17 years who are facing serious emotional and behavioral challenges.

Residential Treatment Programs with Comprehensive Care

The facility provides 24 hour care with a highly structured therapeutic environment, on site education through Norman Public Schools and a multidisciplinary team approach. Red River Youth Academy is accredited by The Joint Commission and licensed by the Oklahoma Department of Human Services.

Red River Youth Academy provides residential treatment with individual psychotherapy, group therapy and family therapy as part of comprehensive care plans. The program uses a milieu therapy approach combined with cognitive behavioral therapy, behavior modification, life skills training and trauma informed care.

Medication Management for Adolescents with Serious Emotional Disturbances

Medication management and psychosocial rehabilitation services are also available through licensed professionals. The center specializes in treating youth with severe aggression, suicidal ideation, homicidal ideation and self harm behaviors. Red River Youth Academy also serves adolescents with serious emotional disturbances, co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders and trauma histories.

The program accepts SoonerCare (Medicaid), most private insurance plans and private pay. Payment assistance is available for eligible families.
