About Serenity Place NCADD Affiliate – CLOSED
Serenity Place was a facility that provides addiction recovery services to men and women. They offered non-medical detoxification services, residential treatment and outpatient care. The facility also provided crisis services. They were located in Manchester, New Hampshire. They closed in 2018.
Managing Withdrawal Through Non-Medical Detox
One thing that made this facility differ from others was their non-medical detox service. A non-medical detox involves helping clients manage their withdrawal symptoms without using medication. Clients would follow a schedule for one week that featured multiple daily group sessions and activities.
Individuals received emotional support from their peers and counselors as they went through the withdrawal process. They also began learning to identify their triggers and develop strategies to prevent relapse. Case managers helped clients with their treatment plans and referrals to their next stage of recovery.
Transitional Living Program for Women and Men
When clients completed detox, they moved on to their next stage of recovery, which was the residential program. Serenity had two facilities which housed men and women separately.
While clients were in the program, they could continue receiving counseling, participate in self help groups, and receive assistance with job searches and finding housing. Clients would also learn about important life skills such as establishing bank accounts and creating budgets.
Located on Manchester Street, the facility was close to various bus stops that made it easy for clients to travel to and from the facility. Serenity Place was also steps away from downtown where clients could enjoy activities such as walking at Arms Park or visiting The Palace Theatre.
Even though they’re closed, there are other centers nearby that can assist you.
