About Volunteers of America Mens Adult Detoxification Center
Volunteers of America (VOA) Men’s Detoxification at Recovery on Redwood supports men over 18 who are seeking non-medical detox or withdrawal management for primary substance use challenges. This facility is located on South Redwood Road in Salt Lake City, Utah, less than two miles southwest of the scenic Jordan River Parkway and just over three miles from the Utah State Capitol. It’s a social model residential setting that emphasizes peer support and personal responsibility in recovery.
If you meet the eligibility criteria, you can stay at the facility for up to 14 days at no cost during the program. Non-eligible clients are charged a low-cost fee. You’ll get support with Medicaid applications to help ease the process of getting covered.
Non-medical Withdrawal Management or Detox
For those beginning their recovery journey, this non-medical detox program provides calm, structured and trauma-informed environments where you can safely manage withdrawal symptoms naturally. The emphasis here is on close staff monitoring, emotional support, healthy meals and hydration.
While FDA-approved detox medications aren’t used here, you may still have access to medication-assisted treatment if appropriate. You’ll also take part in 12-step meetings like AA or NA, along with trauma-focused Seeking Safety group sessions to support your emotional healing and recovery.
Consistent Support From Staff
While onsite, you’ll benefit from 24/7 staff support, enjoy nutritious meals three times daily and participate in group activities to build skills and foster connection. There’s also the opportunity to attend court, medical and mental health appointments virtually.
In addition, you’ll have access to a peer specialist to guide and encourage you throughout your stay, drawing from their lived experience in recovery. Through case management, you’ll receive help navigating housing, employment, legal issues and other social services that support your healing.
Most clients continue their healing by smoothly transitioning to the outpatient program at VOA’s Cornerstone Counseling Center, housed in the same building. This provides a strong foundation to steadily build on your progress without interruption while maintaining your work, school or family responsibilities.

Aftercare programs provide ongoing support after you complete a rehab program. They may include several components to help you maintain sobriety including therapy, community support groups and relapse prevention strategies. This gives you a network of resources as you reintegrate into your daily life.

Sober Living
Sober living homes provide a supportive and substance free environment for you to live in as you overcome your addiction. Residents must follow house rules and support each other's recovery journeys. Sober living fosters accountability and stability during this critical phase of recovery.
