About VOA Utah’s Ballington House

Volunteers of America Utah operates comprehensive detoxification services in Salt Lake City, Utah and provide safe, supportive withdrawal management for adults struggling with substance use.

The organization runs two programs: a men’s detoxification center at the new Recovery on Redwood facility and a Center for Women and Children in Murray serving clients 18 and older with residential detox stays up to 14 days.

Inpatient Social Detox

Adults who have used drugs or alcohol in the past 72 hours can access residential detox services in a social model which is a non-medical setting. The men’s program operates 24/7 at the Recovery on Redwood facility, while the women’s program uniquely allows mothers to bring children age 10 and younger to stay overnight during treatment.

Clients receive case management, screening, and assessment to determine the appropriate next level of care following detox completion. Services include motivational interviewing, 12-step facilitation, cognitive behavioral therapy, relapse prevention, Seeking Safety groups, trauma related counseling, and referrals for medication-assisted treatment as needed.
