The Haven Detox Center is preparing to open a new medical detox facility in Tulsa focused on substance use and mental health care.

The center is scheduled to begin operations aiming to address what leadership describes as a shortage of available services in the state.

Addressing the Need for Detox Services in Tulsa

Executive Director Lamont Malcom explained that the organization recognized a local demand for additional treatment options.

They decided to expand into the Tulsa area to help meet that need particularly as substance use rates continue to increase across Oklahoma communities.

According to Malcom, the facility emphasizes identifying underlying causes of addiction and mental health conditions rather than treating withdrawal symptoms alone.

The center provides integrated dual diagnosis care, meaning patients can receive treatment for substance use disorders and mental health conditions simultaneously.

This coordinated approach is intended to intuitively support individuals facing both concerns at the same time. “There aren’t enough services in this state and we want to make sure we can at least add ourselves to list of possibilities for them,” Malcom stated.

Rising Fentanyl and Opioid Detox Demand

Malcom also noted an increase in certain substance use trends within the community. “Fentanyl is definitely on the rise. Opiate use continues to be on the rise. We’re seeing less heroin and more fentanyl,” Malcolm said.

These patterns have contributed to the growing demand for structured treatment programs in the region.

The program at the Tulsa region begins with a medically supervised detoxification process. After detox, clients can then participate in a treatment phase lasting between four and eight weeks.

The center also provides follow-up care designed to support individuals after the initial treatment period ends.

The Haven Detox Center will accept both various health insurance coverage plans and will be extending options for private pay. The facility is located at 2130 S. 85th E. Ave.
