CREOKS Health Services announced plans that will give Oklahoma new medical detox capacity in Tulsa. The behavioral health provider intends to open a detoxification and residential treatment center at 3310 West 61st St, which will give adults across the state a new option for the supervised withdrawal that serves as the first step of recovery for many people.
What the CREOKS Facility Will Offer
The center will have 15 medically supervised detox beds for men and women ages 18 and older. Additionally there’s 47 residential treatment beds for men according to CREOKS.
Detoxification services are expected to last three to 10 days depending on the substance and the person’s needs. Men entering residential treatment will participate in a minimum 30-day program and treatment includes counseling group therapy psychosocial rehabilitation relapse prevention and individualized treatment plans.
Why Medical Detox Matters
Alcohol and benzodiazepine withdrawal may cause seizures and other life threatening complications. Withdrawal sometimes also drives people back to substance use before recovery can begin to take hold.
The Tulsa facility will have licensed clinical staffing controlled building access and perimeter fencing. The organization will also coordinate transportation for admissions and discharges. This addresses a practical barrier that keeps many people from ever starting detox.
Understanding Medically Supervised Detox
Medical detox involves managing withdrawal from alcohol or drugs under clinical supervision. Staff monitor vital signs treat withdrawal symptoms with medications when appropriate and respond quickly if complications develop.
The goal involves more than safety. A managed withdrawal also gives people a stable starting point for the counseling and treatment that follow instead of forcing them to endure symptoms alone and risk relapse before recovery has a chance to begin.
Timeline and Construction
Construction and renovations are expected to begin after officials complete permitting in April 2027 with completion targeted for November 2027. Until the new center opens Tulsans seeking withdrawal support can turn to existing detox centers in Tulsa and across Oklahoma.
