Baltimore VA Medical Center is a substance use treatment center in Maryland that serves military personnel, veterans, and their families through the VA Maryland Health Care System. Special programs are offered for trauma survivors, homeless veterans, and those with co-occurring disorders.

Medication Assisted Detox for Alcohol and Opioids

Veterans can begin with outpatient services that include individual counseling, group therapy, and medication management, or inpatient residential treatment offering 24-hour therapeutic and educational programming. Detoxification services for alcohol and opioids are available with medication assisted treatment options including methadone, buprenorphine, and naltrexone.

Clients receive evidence based therapies such as CBT, dialectical behavior therapy, motivational interviewing, and trauma informed counseling. The program addresses substance use and mental health challenges, unemployment, and housing instability. Veterans benefit from case management, relapse prevention training, family counseling, and life skills training.

  • Payment options: Accepts VA health benefits, Medicare, Medicaid, TRICARE, private insurance, and self pay with sliding scale assistance
  • Amenities: Plant-filled atriums, natural light, on site parking, telehealth services, and shuttle transportation
