About Alcoholics Anonymous Iowa City

Alcoholics Anonymous Iowa City is a fellowship meeting location in Iowa City, Iowa, hosting multiple 12 Step recovery meetings each week. The location serves individuals seeking peer support for recovery from alcoholism through the traditional AA program. With 23 different meetings per week, the clubhouse offers a welcoming space for newcomers, long term members and anyone interested in the AA approach to sobriety.

AA Meeting Options

The Iowa City AA clubhouse hosts a diverse schedule of meetings throughout the week, including early morning Breakfast Club sessions, midday meetings and evening gatherings. They offer several meeting types including open meetings welcoming anyone interested in AA and closed meetings for those with a desire to stop drinking.

They also offer beginner meetings, Big Book study groups, discussion meetings and gender specific meetings for men and women. While they provide support for sustainable recovery, they are not a clinical program. When you need additional MAT or detox services, they can refer you to local resources.

Fellowship Includes Social Events

Participants can expect a peer led environment grounded in the 12 Step model. This model emphasizes admitting powerlessness over addiction and building a spiritual foundation for recovery. The fellowship extends beyond formal meetings with community activities such as Sunday volleyball at Lower City Park and monthly group conscience meetings held via Zoom.

The program is free to attend with voluntary contributions accepted from AA members only.
