About Bessemer Neighborhood Health Center

Bessemer Neighborhood Health Center in Alabama is a program location of Aletheia House. They are a community based organization that offers substance abuse treatment and prevention at a low cost.

The word “Aletheia” means “truth” or “to be truthful with yourself.” We know that substance users have to be truthful to themselves before they can seek help. The organization has received several national and regional recognitions and awards.

Treatments and Services

The center offers outpatient detox using Suboxone for clients 14 years old and older. The center offers help filling your prescriptions at a local pharmacy.

The center is federally qualified and is run by nurses with the University of Alabama. In addition to substance use treatment, the center also provides medical services, including blood pressure management, diabetes management and treatment of acute illnesses.

Financial Assistance

The center is able to help clients who have lost their insurance receive their medications for free or at a reduced cost. While client reviews describe a warm and friendly atmosphere, it is reported that clients may wait an extended period of time before being called back for their appointment. We believe this could be due to a large number of community members who need affordable health care.
