House of Mercy is a nonprofit addiction treatment center in Des Moines, Iowa serving individuals and families since 1988 as part of the MercyOne health system.

The facility offers a full continuum of care including medically supervised detox, residential programs, intensive outpatient treatment and medication assisted treatment with ongoing recovery support.

Clients appreciate the welcoming, professional staff and the supportive environment that helped them achieve freedom from addiction and rebuild their families.

What kinds of addiction treatment does House of Mercy offer?

House of Mercy provides medically supervised detox with 24/7 monitoring, high and low intensity residential treatment, transitional housing, sober living and outpatient services including intensive outpatient and regular outpatient programs.

Medication assisted treatment with naltrexone, buprenorphine and methadone is available, along with evidence based therapies like cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, motivational interviewing and trauma focused counseling.

Who can get help?

House of Mercy serves adolescents, young adults and adult men and women with a special focus on parenting women with children, including pregnant and postpartum women.

The center also supports active duty military personnel, criminal justice clients, LGBTQ individuals, persons with hearing impairments and anyone with cooccurring mental health and substance use disorders.

What makes House of Mercy unique?

House of Mercy is Iowa’s largest program for parenting women with children, offering an onsite NAEYC accredited Child Development Center for residential clients with children ages six weeks through school age.
