About Kolbe Clinic Birmingham – Closed
Closed – May 2025
Kolbe Clinic Birmingham was an outpatient treatment center in Birmingham, Alabama. Established in 2014, they provided comprehensive substance abuse and mental health treatment for adults. You could access outpatient counseling, psychiatry services, and medication assisted treatment.
They accepted most major insurers, including Medicare. While this location is closed, inpatient detox and outpatient care are available at their other three Alabama clinics.
Multiple MAT Options
What struck me most about them was they offered multiple FDA approved medications to help you overcome the physical effects of quitting alcohol, opioids, or stimulants. The options available included subclade, Suboxone, Subutex, and Vivitrol.
These FDA approved medications help you manage withdrawal symptoms and cravings to focus solely on recovery. They complemented care with behavioral therapies to help clients recognize and address addiction’s underlying factors to promote long term recovery.
Helpful Transportation Services
I also thought it was great that they offer transportation from detox. Their inpatient detox facility in Tallassee provided 24/7 support and monitoring to help you reach stabilization before transitioning to another level of care.
After you completed detox, they provided immediate transportation to your next destination, whether a residential treatment center or your home for outpatient care. Clients would benefit from ongoing support to access the services you need to continue your journey.
One of the other great things about Kolbe Clinic Birmingham was it was located just off interstate 20. Clients had easy access to Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport and downtown. In between treatment sessions, patients may have enjoyed learning about history and the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute or checking out the McWane Science Center.
Levels of Care
-
Inpatient
Inpatient and residential programs provide round-the-clock medical and emotional support as you live at the treatment facility. This level of care may be recommended if you have severe addictions or mental health conditions since it removes outside distractions and allows you to focus solely on therapy.
-
Outpatient
In outpatient therapy, you’ll attend therapy sessions several times each week while living at home. This is ideal if you have a strong support system and a lower risk of relapse. Outpatient treatment offers flexibility to maintain work, school or family obligations.
Detox Service Setting
-
Inpatient Detox
Inpatient detox occurs in a dedicated treatment facility. You’ll live there around the clock and receive intensive medical support and supervision to help manage your withdrawal symptoms. It is suitable for individuals with moderate to severe addictions as it ensures a stable detox environment.
-
Outpatient Detox
Outpatient detox gives you access to medically supervised withdrawal services while still allowing you to live at home. You’ll attend a clinic for treatment and monitoring. This flexible option is suitable for those with mild to moderate withdrawal symptoms who have strong support systems.
Programs
-
Alcohol Detox
Alcohol detox programs offer medical support to help individuals withdraw safely from alcohol. Your care team may use medications to ease your symptoms and provide medical monitoring to address complications.
-
Drug Detox
Drug detox programs support individuals who are withdrawing from addictive substances like cocaine and heroin. Medical support helps you manage symptoms in a controlled and safe environment so you can achieve initial sobriety.
