Mckenna Recovery Center
About Mckenna Recovery Center
McKenna Recovery Center is an addiction treatment center in Lihue, Hawaii providing outpatient substance use treatment for adults, young adults and adolescents across the Hawaiian islands. The center offers outpatient detox, intensive outpatient programs and ongoing outpatient care supported by HIPAA compliant telehealth services.
Led by Medical Director Gerald McKenna, M.D., a board certified psychiatrist and addiction medicine specialist, the program integrates evidence based therapies with medication assisted treatment to address both addiction and co-occurring mental health disorders.
Outpatient Treatment Programs
Treatment begins with an assessment and may include outpatient detox, where withdrawal symptoms are managed safely under medical supervision. Clients can then transition into an intensive outpatient program or standard outpatient services allowing them to live at home while attending structured therapy sessions and receiving ongoing support.
The center uses cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing and relapse prevention, trauma informed counseling and 12 step facilitation to support long term recovery.
Medication assisted treatment options include Suboxone and naltrexone, acamprosate and disulfiram for alcohol and opioid dependence, with dual diagnosis care for clients managing depression, anxiety or other co-occurring psychiatric conditions.
