About Bridgeway Behavioral Health The Farm

Bridgeway Behavioral Health The Farm is a CARF accredited adolescent residential treatment program serving boys ages 13 to 19 in Winfield, Missouri.

Operated by Preferred Family Healthcare, the program combines evidence based therapies like cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy and motivational interviewing with experiential modalities including equine assisted therapy, creative arts therapy and adventure therapy to treat substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders.

The Farm offers a unique recovery model where adolescents build accountability and self esteem through meaningful work on a working farm alongside clinical treatment.

Addiction Treatment for Teens

The Farm provides a 60 day residential program for adolescent boys with substance use disorders, including alcohol abuse, drug addiction and opioid addiction.

As part of the Preferred Family Healthcare network with over 40 years of experience in the Midwest, the program delivers dual diagnosis care for co-occurring conditions in a therapeutic farm setting with capacity for 12 boys.

Treatment integrates individual and group therapy, family therapy and trauma therapy with daily themed intentions focused on building self esteem and processing interpersonal challenges. Clients participate in process groups and evidence based interventions targeting both underlying issues and practical coping skills, with aftercare planning that involves families and community resources to support lasting change.

They don’t directly offer detox treatment here, but they can refer you to a provider where your teen can get withdrawal management if necessary.

Farm Based Therapy

The Farm’s distinctive approach combines traditional clinical care with agricultural work where adolescents tend the land and learn service through hands on farming. A certified equine therapist guides clients in animal assisted therapy exploring behavior patterns through work with horses, while a certified art therapist offers creative expression through painting, sculpture and collage.

Outpatient adolescents engage in experiential outings like canoeing, mural painting and museum visits to reinforce recovery skills in real world settings.
