About The CARITAS Healing Place for Men
The CARITAS Healing Place for Men is a long term residential addiction treatment center in Richmond, Virginia that offers peer driven recovery programs for men struggling with substance use disorders.
Since 2005, the facility has provided a continuum of care that includes a nine to 14 month residential program, intensive outpatient treatment, an emergency shelter, and a Sobering Up Center where men can enter while still intoxicated.
Residential Detox with Naltrexone
The CARITAS Healing Place for Men offers long term residential treatment lasting nine to 14 months using the Recovery Dynamics curriculum based on 12 Step principles, evidence based therapies like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing.
Detox and medication assisted treatment options include Naltrexone. Intensive outpatient programming meets three to four days per week for men with substance use and co-occurring mental health diagnoses. The facility also operates a 36 bed emergency shelter and Sobering Up Center for men in crisis.
Help for Men who are Homeless
The program exclusively serves adult men with substance use disorders, including those with co-occurring mental health conditions. The CARITAS Healing Place for Men focuses on homeless men and those experiencing housing insecurity, offering a low barrier model that welcomes the most vulnerable members of the Richmond community.
Unique Free Long Term Treatment
The 214-bed facility is near the James River Park System and Belle Isle providing access to healing natural environments and outdoor spaces that support recovery. All services are offered completely free of cost to residents, making it the only long term recovery program in Virginia with no financial barriers.
