About Bryan Health Independence Center

Part of the Bryan Health network, the Bryan Independence Center in Lincoln, Nebraska, provides residential and outpatient treatment programs for people dealing with substance use disorder and addiction. They specialize in personalized care plans that treat the individual as a whole person, including addressing co-occurring mental health disorders. They have walk-in evals available Tuesday and Thursday mornings.

The Bryan Independence Center is a stone’s throw away from Rudge Memorial Park, which offers plenty of calming green space for a serene nature walk and quiet reflection.

Monitored Detox and Residential Care

Getting clean of a serious chemical dependency on your own is dangerous. In the inpatient detox program, you’ll be medically monitored around the clock as you go through the withdrawal process. You’ll be prescribed medications that minimize cravings and calm unpleasant withdrawal symptoms by flushing drugs from your system. Depending on the severity of your chemical dependency, the length of your stay in detox can span anywhere from 2 to 10 days.

Once you’re clean of substances and are stable mentally and physically, it’s a seamless transition into the residential substance use program, where you’ll undergo extensive treatment for addiction. Your personalized care plan will include individual and group counseling, addiction lectures and discussions, family therapy, medication assisted treatment, and recreational activities.

Your time in residential treatment is dependent on your progress, and once you are ready to step down, you’ll transition into one of Bryan Independence Center’s outpatient programs. You’ll continue working towards recovery with individual, group, and family counseling sessions.

BSc

Having struggled with her mental health, Gemma has spent much of her writing career focused on topics surrounding behavioral health and stigmatized health issues, such as eating disorders, depression, obesity, and sexually transmitted diseases. It was a natural step to write about addiction, with her background in Biology and Research Science playing a key role in understanding chemical dependency as a disease. By writing about drug rehabilitation in an accessible and compassionate way, she hopes more people will feel encouraged to seek help.
