The goal of the Detox Diversion Outreach Team is to break the cycle of addiction and engage people in recovery-based services to make their transition into community services easier, promoting long-term recovery.
If chemical dependency is an issue, detainees will be referred to detoxification services at the Fairfox Detoxification Center, perhaps even as a diversion service as an alternative to incarceration. If a person is not eligible for services, e.g., has acute medical or psychiatric issues, they will still be referred for services within the community to aid their recovery.
