About Harborview Medical Center Addictions
Harborview Medical Center Addictions provides mental health and chemical dependency in Seattle’s First Hill neighborhood as part of UW Medicine. The program offers numerous services and case management for adults facing substance use and mental health challenges. As a hospital-affiliated clinic, Harborview delivers integrated care that addresses co-occurring disorders and comorbid medical issues through a multidisciplinary team of psychiatrists, primary care physicians, therapists, chemical dependency professionals and peer support specialists.
Co-Occurring Mental Health and Addiction Treatment
Harborview’s core focus is treating adults with co-occurring chemical dependency and mental health disorders in an outpatient setting. Board-certified psychiatrists and chemical dependency professionals work alongside case managers and peer support specialists to address both conditions simultaneously, recognizing that lasting recovery requires integrated care. Although detox may not be available, there are many treatments to help clients overcome addiction for good.
Treatment combines evaluation, medication management and psychotherapy in individual and group formats. Sessions target the underlying causes of addiction and mental health symptoms while building practical coping skills with crisis intervention available when acute needs arise. The program is designed for patients who need the structure of clinical care combined with the flexibility of outpatient scheduling.
Supported Services for Long-Term Stability
Beyond clinical treatment, Harborview offers supported employment and housing services to help patients rebuild stability during recovery. Case managers connect clients with community resources and coordinate care across medical, psychiatric and social needs, an approach particularly valuable for individuals with complex health profiles.
