About King County Behavioral Health and Recovery Division

King County Behavioral Health and Recovery Division is a behavioral health and substance use treatment system serving Seattle, Washington and all of King County. The division connects residents to outpatient counseling, residential treatment, detox and crisis services through a network of contracted providers across the county. Clients and families appreciate the clear navigation support and access to publicly funded care.

Care Continuum

The division coordinates outpatient substance use counseling (individual and group sessions, education and recovery planning), residential treatment for longer-term support and withdrawal management or detox services through contracted facilities. Medication for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD), including a 24/7 buprenorphine access line and naloxone distribution are also part of the countywide addiction response.

Helping Underserved Communities

Services are designed for King County residents who are Medicaid-eligible and meet medical necessity criteria. Low-income residents who do not have Medicaid may also access support through the division’s publicly funded system.

The goal is to provide recovery assistance to a diverse population that may not have access otherwise. The system is primarily funded through Medicaid and other public funding sources. Payment assistance is available for eligible residents who do not have Medicaid coverage.
