About Chesapeake Integrated Behavioral Healthcare
Chesapeake Integrated Behavioral Healthcare (CIBH) is a city-operated addiction treatment center in Chesapeake, Virginia, providing outpatient substance use disorder services and integrated behavioral health support for residents across the lifespan. CIBH offers walk-in Same-Day Access intake, outpatient and intensive outpatient programs and medication management for individuals with opioid use history and other high-priority needs. The program takes a harm-reduction meeting people where they are with low-barrier access and a commitment that no one is denied service due to inability to pay.
Addiction Treatment Programs at Chesapeake Integrated Behavioral Healthcare
Treatment begins with walk-in Same-Day Access registration and clinical assessment on a first-come, first-served basis, with no appointment necessary. From there, clients can access outpatient and intensive outpatient counseling for substance use disorders, supported by a Substance Abuse and Prevention Block Grant that prioritizes services for pregnant and parenting women, individuals recently released from incarceration, people experiencing homelessness and those with opioid or IV drug use history.
CIBH also provides medication management for qualifying clients, including those already prescribed Suboxone who are transferring care (inductions are not performed on-site). The PEAKE Team, a mobile peer outreach program, distributes naloxone, overdose prevention education and fentanyl/xylazine/benzodiazepine testing strips, connecting community members to treatment and recovery resources.

Levels of Care
-
Inpatient
Inpatient and residential programs provide round-the-clock medical and emotional support as you live at the treatment facility. This level of care may be recommended if you have severe addictions or mental health conditions since it removes outside distractions and allows you to focus solely on therapy.
-
Outpatient
In outpatient therapy, you’ll attend therapy sessions several times each week while living at home. This is ideal if you have a strong support system and a lower risk of relapse. Outpatient treatment offers flexibility to maintain work, school or family obligations.
-
Sober Living
Sober living homes provide a supportive and substance free environment for you to live in as you overcome your addiction. Residents must follow house rules and support each other's recovery journeys. Sober living fosters accountability and stability during this critical phase of recovery.
-
Intervention
An intervention is a structured and professionally guided conversation with an individual who is struggling with addiction. During the conversation, family and friends will encourage you to seek treatment. This is often a pivotal step for those resistant to getting help.
