Alternative Counseling – Closed
About Alternative Counseling – Closed
Alternative Counseling was located in Spanaway, Washington. This was a clinical care facility that supported adults who were living with mental health issues or coexisting substance abuse.
Their services were focused solely on counseling. While they didn’t offer detox or medication assisted treatment, this was a supportive care facility to turn to if you were stepping down from an outpatient treatment program, were already enrolled in a medication assisted treatment program (MAT), and simply needed ongoing counseling to help you work through challenges you faced in life.
Unfortunately, this facility has permanently shut down. When they were open, they accepted coverage through most major insurance policies, Medicare and other state financed health insurance plans. Sliding scale discounts were also available to make care more affordable.
Dedicated Addiction Counseling
Their counseling services were really robust in that you would have found specialized care to help you work through addiction or mental health challenges that were at play. Their approach was very much rooted in evidence based practices like cognitive and dialectical behavioral therapy.
Culturally Competent Care
Guiding all treatment plans was a compassionate and respectful approach to care. No matter who you are or what challenges you faced, you would’ve been supported with judgment free and culturally competent care. There were services here for members of the LGBTQ community, adults living with HIV/AIDS, pregnant women, and veterans, as well as active duty military members.
Supportive Recovery Community
Spanaway is home to a number of community parks and recreational activities, and it can be a great place to focus on your recovery, especially if you want to get outdoors and connect with nature.
Some of the notable landmarks here include Spanaway Lake Park, Sprinker Recreation Center, and the Lake Spanaway Golf Course.
