About Center for Discovery – Fairfield Wellington
Center for Discovery Fairfield Wellington is a residential eating disorder treatment center in Connecticut that serves female and non-binary young adults ages 18 to 26. The program uses the Real-Life Recovery approach and offers residential care, individual and group therapy, family therapy, and virtual telehealth options.
Eating Disorder Treatment and Programs
The center provides residential treatment for anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder, orthorexia nervosa, and other feeding or eating disorders.
Evidence based therapies include cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, exposure and response prevention, and holistic modalities like art therapy, yoga therapy, and dance movement therapy. The Path to Peace binge eating disorder program and Stars & Stripes Program for military members, veterans, and dependents are also available.
Center for Discovery provides LGBTQIA+ inclusive and gender affirmative programs and also treats co-occurring disorders including anxiety, depression, PTSD, and OCD alongside eating disorders.
Detox Referrals and Healthier Relationships with Food
The center uses the CARE-CFD dietary model featuring consistent attuned relational eating with trauma informed nutrition therapy and a Health at Every Size framework delivered by Body Trust certified dietitians.
Clients engage in hands-on meal preparation to build healthier relationships with food, and the program emphasizes putting the joyful back into movement through yoga and other activities rather than traditional exercise focused approaches.
Clients who are struggling with a substance use disorder or are in need of detox treatment can be referred to a treatment facility that provides the level of needed care.
