Riverwalk Counseling Center is a mental health and addiction treatment provider in Naperville, Illinois, offering outpatient and intensive outpatient programs for individuals and families affected by substance use disorders. Accredited by the Joint Commission since 2017, Riverwalk Counseling Center is committed to evidence based, compassionate treatment tailored to each client’s unique needs. While they do not offer detox or MAT service, they work with a network of physicians who can provide medication when needed.
Treatment begins with a comprehensive assessment to match you with the appropriate level of care and therapist. The center offers traditional outpatient counseling as well as intensive outpatient programs (IOP) that meet three days per week, including evening and Saturday sessions for adults and a specialized six week women’s IOP focused on recovery, self esteem and trauma.
Evidence Based Treatment for Addiction, Mental Health and Dual Diagnosis
Clients receive individual, group and family counseling using approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, EMDR and relapse prevention. Riverwalk also provides dual diagnosis treatment for co occurring mental health and substance use disorders, DUI evaluations and programs and aftercare planning to support long term recovery.
The provide treatment for children, adolescents and adults with substance use disorders, dual diagnosis, trauma, eating disorders and perinatal mood concerns. They accept most private insurance, Medicare, TRICARE, Medicaid, self pay and offers reduced rates through a student intern program.

Gayle Morris, BSN, MSN, received her bachelor’s from the University of Illinois Chicago Medical Center and her first master’s from the Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis. She practiced nursing for over two decades with a focus on pediatric physical rehabilitation, which required mental health skills to help children, and their parents work through new challenges after a head injury or spinal cord injury.
