The Thirteen Step House
About The Thirteen Step House
The Thirteen Step House is a men’s recovery residence in Fort Wayne, Indiana, providing safe, structured transitional living for men recovering from alcoholism and drug addiction. The house was founded in 1968 by members of the Fort Wayne AA community and now operates four houses in the West Central Historic District with capacity for up to 50 men.
The program emphasizes personal responsibility, life skills development and spiritual growth through a rigorous work based environment rooted in the 12 step recovery model.
Recovery Programs At The Thirteen Step House
Men begin with a minimum six month residential recovery program that can be extended based on individual progress and needs. The structure is built around Alcoholics Anonymous principles, requiring attendance at four recovery meetings weekly and 90 meetings in 90 days for newcomers, with eleven onsite meetings available each week.
While they don’t offer medical detox or MAT services, they can provide you with a referral to a local center or clinic to meet your needs. All residents participate in daily life skills training covering cooking, money management, study skills and employment assistance, alongside structured schedules that include assigned chores, nightly curfews and employment requirements.
Promoting Self Reliance and Self Resilience
These services encourage self reliance and resilience that promotes independence and reintegration into the community. They support men who may have experienced job loss, family separation or legal challenges related to addiction and works closely with community corrections, drug court and recovery works.
They accept self pay, including a required admission fee and weekly rent. Residents must also secure employment within 30 days.
