About Olympia VA Clinic
The VA Chehalis Outpatient Clinic on Northeast Hampe Way in Washington officially closed its doors in October 2021. Veterans enrolled at Chehalis for care are encouraged to attend the VA Olympia Clinic which is approximately a 30-minute drive away from the site of the former Chehalis Clinic.
It may seem inconvenient to travel to a new location but the Olympia Clinic
has great transport links with bus routes passing right by the center on Lilly Road Northeast.
Clients who live outside a 30-minute drive time can be treated virtually at the Olympia location, and those without smart devices can request them from the VA which is amazing. For clients who would rather attend the Olympia Clinic in person but have issues getting there, VA Puget Sound will provide transportation services for those living in the service area.
Access the Same Quality Healthcare in Olympia
Former clients of the Chehalis Outpatient Clinic can access the same primary and specialty health services including mental health care at the Olympia VA Clinic.
Mental health care services include treatment for substance use disorder which utilizes a trauma-informed approach to cater to the unique needs of veterans. Medication assisted treatment (MAT) may be available for those unable to maintain sobriety without help in managing cravings and withdrawal symptoms.
A referral is required for this location but all VA Clinics offer same-day help for mental health issues even in some cases without enrollment in VA health care.
Specialized Care for Women
It’s great that the Olympia Clinic has a specific healthcare program for women that includes mental health treatment, tailored to the challenges faced by female veterans. Their services for women also include recovery from military sexual trauma, disease screenings, menopause treatment, family planning and contraceptive care.
Levels of Care
-
Outpatient
In outpatient therapy, you’ll attend therapy sessions several times each week while living at home. This is ideal if you have a strong support system and a lower risk of relapse. Outpatient treatment offers flexibility to maintain work, school or family obligations.
-
Aftercare
Aftercare programs provide ongoing support after you complete a rehab program. They may include several components to help you maintain sobriety including therapy, community support groups and relapse prevention strategies. This gives you a network of resources as you reintegrate into your daily life.
-
Dual Diagnosis
Dual diagnosis programs address substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions simultaneously. This integrated approach to care improves the likelihood of long term recovery and stability by addressing the root causes of addiction.
Detox Service Setting
-
Outpatient Detox
Outpatient detox gives you access to medically supervised withdrawal services while still allowing you to live at home. You’ll attend a clinic for treatment and monitoring. This flexible option is suitable for those with mild to moderate withdrawal symptoms who have strong support systems.
