About Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center

The Army Substance Abuse Program at Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center serves active duty military personnel, veterans, and DOD civilians with substance use disorders on Fort Gordon, Georgia. The program offers inpatient residential treatment, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient care, and standard outpatient services.

This facility is the largest and most well-established inpatient substance use disorder treatment center in the entire Department of Defense.

Military Focused Substance Abuse Treatment

As the DoD’s largest inpatient treatment facility, the program provides evidence based care in a structured, military focused environment with 24 hour medical supervision. Treatment includes detox services, psychiatric and medical evaluation, psychological testing, and personalized treatment planning.

Service members participate in cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and 12-step rehabilitation programs. Sessions address both substance misuse and the operational stressors unique to armed forces personnel with medication assisted treatment options including buprenorphine, Suboxone, and naltrexone.

Dual Diagnosis and Integrated Care

The program treats co-occurring mental health conditions alongside substance use disorders through coordinated care within the Army medical system. Individual therapy, group therapy, family therapy, trauma focused treatment, and skill development groups address underlying issues while preparing service members for return to duty.
