About Emerald Coast Behavioral Hospital

Emerald Coast Behavioral Hospital in Panama City, Florida, is a certified mental health and drug rehab facility. Support is available to kids, teens, adults and seniors, including veterans and those with dual diagnosis or co-occurring mental health issues. They accept most major insurance plans including Medicare, Managed Medicaid and TRICARE.

On arrival clients can access free assessments before committing themselves to care. This is a great way for them to get a feel for the service and whether the facility is right for them while trained staff evaluate their medical history and the severity of their addiction or mental health issues. This helps staff suggest the most relevant program and treatment to meet individuals’ needs. These assessments are available 24/7 for clients to get the help they need whenever they’re ready.

Clients may be referred to either inpatient or outpatient services. Specialized programs are also available for kids and teens and veterans. The standard adult inpatient program is medically supervised 24/7 and accepts clients quickly and easily, seven days per week. The program typically involves a thorough initial assessment followed by the development of a personal treatment plan that is designed to help clients stabilize while monitoring their progress with achievable goals. Medication assisted treatment (MAT) and pharmacotherapy are also available to those who may benefit.

Following the completion of the inpatient program, some clients may choose to engage in step-down care. This could be a partial hospitalization program (PHP) or their intensive outpatient program (IOP). Both of these options involve small group therapy sessions with no more than 12 people for optimal results. Tailored individual therapy sessions are also provided, with morning slots focused exclusively on mental health issues and afternoon sessions focusing on substance abuse issues. Therapy styles used include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) and process group therapy.
