MaineGeneral Medical Center’s inpatient mental health program at the Alfond Center for Health in Augusta offers hospital care for adults in crisis.
Our inpatient unit provides stabilization through brief hospitalization while developing plans for continuing outpatient treatment.
Patients are admitted to the hospital through direct referrals from the community crisis system, the emergency department or primary care providers.
Our treatment teams include psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, hospitalists, nurses, clinical social workers, psychologists, and recreational and occupational therapists.

Inpatient and residential programs provide round-the-clock medical and emotional support as you live at the treatment facility. In outpatient therapy, you’ll attend therapy sessions several times each week while living at home. This is ideal if you have a strong support system and a lower risk of relapse. Outpatient treatment offers flexibility to maintain work, school or family obligations. |
