About Stonington Institute

Known for its submarine history, Groton in Connecticut is home to Stonington Institute Trails Corner Recovery Center. It’s in a secluded part of town and no far from Birch Plain Creek. This facility offers outpatient programs for adults battling addiction and co-occurring disorders. You can also access inpatient detox at their sister facility less than 16 miles away in rural North Stonington.

Military Track

What stands out most to me is their Starlight Military Program. This specialized track offers comprehensive care for Veterans and active military members struggling with addiction, PTSD, and mental health conditions. You’ll benefit from a unique recovery program that emphasizes military specific issues, like deployment, separation adjustment, combat, and grief and loss.

Holistic Approaches with Art & Music

Another nice thing I noticed was their focus on holistic healing. Along with proven therapeutic interventions, you can access art and music therapy as well as spiritual care. They even provide a chaplain to offer spiritual guidance.

Medication Assisted Treatment

Lastly, I think it’s great that they provide medication assisted treatment. They prescribe FDA-approved medications, like Vivitrol and Suboxone, to manage withdrawal symptoms so you can focus solely on recovery.
