At Sunrise House, ensuring the client’s safety is imperative. During the medical and psychosocial assessments at admission, our clinical staff determines whether the client requires Medical Detox. At this level of care, the client is monitored 24/7 by our licensed medical team. This process allows us to manage the client’s withdrawal symptoms in a safe environment. Although each client’s withdrawal circumstances are different, Medical Detox lasts approximately 5-7 days.
Factors determining the client’s experience during withdrawal include:
During detox at Sunrise House the client resides in a designated detox area near medical staff for round-the-clock supervision and support where the client has easy access to staff for assistance. Detox rooms are in a separate section of the client’s residential area in consideration of peak periods of withdrawal.
Not every detox client has the clinical need for medication during the withdrawal process. Our licensed medical staff takes into account the client, substances used, and other factors to safely manage the client’s detox. We use detox methods that are tailored to the specific toxic substance being eliminated from the client’s system. Our skilled staff is knowledgeable about symptoms, protocols, and nuances of withdrawal from numerous drugs.
Special Meals: Sunrise House’s professional staff includes a Registered Dietician that can help provide special meals for clients with medical dietary restrictions.
Wellness & Activity: Sunrise House encourages wellness and physical activity for our clients regardless of their fitness levels. As a part of an effective recovery plan, we encourage clients to identify activities they enjoy such as walking, bike riding, and swimming. These and other enjoyable ways of staying active are helpful for long-term recovery.
