UNA Counseling & Psychotherapy
About UNA Counseling & Psychotherapy
UNA Counseling & Psychotherapy in Greensboro, North Carolina, was a private practice office run by a mental health nurse, consultant and writer. The office has since closed. Greensboro sits on the northern border of North Carolina, offering many of the resources found in a large urban area and yet surrounded by forest lands and state parks.
Certified Detoxification Acupuncturist
The practice was run by Roselyn Harris-Offutt, who has a significant professional history providing services for substance abuse prevention and treatment. She has worked at several psychiatric hospitals, providing counseling and treatment and is a certified registered nurse anesthetist. She was also a board certified addiction counselor and certified detoxification acupuncturist.
Acupuncture for Detoxification
Dr. Offutt began her private practice in 1981 at the Cleveland Clinic. In North Carolina, she offered individual sessions, which support substance use disorder treatment and long-term sobriety. While acupuncture was available during your session to help with detox withdrawal symptoms, she did not offer other medical detox treatment options.
Acupuncture for detox is a complementary therapy that helps reduce cravings, anxiety, insomnia and other withdrawal related discomfort. It influences the nervous system and promotes relaxation but isn’t a stand-alone treatment. Acupuncture might be incorporated as part of a holistic model that includes behavioral therapies.
