Carolinas Medical Center
About Carolinas Medical Center
At Behavioral Health Center (BHC) CMC-Mercy Horizons, we treat adults age 18 and older who are suffering from alcohol and/or drug addiction. Patients admitted to this level of care will receive a complete medical evaluation and follow a prescribed detoxification regimen directed by a licensed physician.
We believe people seeking help for mental illness or substance use disorders should feel empowered and supported – not ashamed or embarrassed.
With a specific focus on integrating behavioral health into primary care, Carolinas HealthCare System’s behavioral health team is creating a forward-thinking approach to providing care to people dealing with mental health issues.
We choose to focus our efforts on:
Screening for and detecting mental illness early by working with primary care doctors
Treating mental illness in its early stage
Educating our communities about mental illness and substance use disorders
Substance use disorders include the abuse (overuse or dependence) of alcohol or other drugs that lead to work, school, home or health problems.
The behavioral health team at Carolinas HealthCare System partners with our patients for every step on the road to recovery from substance use disorders. We help patients achieve recovery by providing understanding of the disorder and providing tools to manage symptoms. Our treatment programs emphasize education, the 12-step recovery philosophy and the importance of a support network during and after treatment.
Carolinas HealthCare System has many treatment options and programs for those dealing with drug addiction or alcoholism. Our inpatient treatment programs are for patients with more serious Substance Use problems who require intensive care 24 hours a day. We take voluntary and involuntary admissions.
