El Paso County Division of Detoxification and Substance Abuse
About El Paso County Division of Detoxification and Substance Abuse
Now closed, the El Paso County Community Detoxification Facility in Colorado Springs used to provide addiction treatment services to adults struggling with substance abuse. Support was also available to folks who were deaf or hard of hearing and services were also available in Spanish. Payment assistance options were also available to provide more accessible care to locals in need.
A Publicly Run Detox Center by the Rocky Mountains
This facility used to be publicly operated, offering primarily medically supervised detox services, alongside a short term residential inpatient program. Detox services were available 24/7, making for super accessible and flexible support.
A Gateway to Recovery
Individuals received support from the center’s inpatient detox space, which featured shared accommodation with basic amenities. Privacy was limited compared to similar detox facilities. Staff supervision took place 24/7 for clients’ safety and wellbeing.
The emphasis here was on safely treating the physical effects of detox, as opposed to the more holistic approach often taken by other centers. It was a kind of gateway for many clients, before transitioning or being referred to further outpatient care at other local facilities.
