About New Horizons of the Treasure Coast Stuart Outpatient

New Horizons of the Treasure Coast and Okeechobee offers comprehensive adult mental health and substance use services from its center in Fort Pierce, Florida. It is located in a quiet, suburban neighborhood, away from the temptations and distractions that can negatively impact your recovery journey.

Safe and Controlled Detoxification

The New Horizons center on Midway Road has a 15-bed unit where those experiencing a serious chemical dependency can detox from substances under medical supervision in a safe and controlled environment.

Here, clients receive medications to prevent and manage withdrawal symptoms and help flush substances from their system in the most comfortable way possible. During their time in the detox unit, they will also receive additional medical and psychosocial treatment to help give them the best start to their recovery journey.

Suppose clients have a co-occurring mental health illness alongside their substance use disorder. In that case, targeted case management service from New Horizons can help them establish links with community services, educate them and their loved ones about health coping strategies, and reduce the need for hospitalization in the future.

Continued Care After Detox

The New Horizons network offers a full continuum of care, with other locations providing outreach programs to promote resilience and recovery, learning resource centers for independent living skills, and a transitional group home.

I also appreciate that they operate a 24-hour Suicide and Crisis Lifeline for those who are undergoing intense stress and need to talk to someone about their addiction or other mental health issues.

Having struggled with her mental health, Gemma has spent much of her writing career focused on topics surrounding behavioral health and stigmatized health issues, such as eating disorders, depression, obesity, and sexually transmitted diseases. It was a natural step to write about addiction, with her background in Biology and Research Science playing a key role in understanding chemical dependency as a disease. By writing about drug rehabilitation in an accessible and compassionate way, she hopes more people will feel encouraged to seek help.
