About NorthStar Transitions

Northstar Transitions provides adults and adolescents with alcohol and substance abuse treatment in Boulder, Colorado. The organization is accredited by The Joint Commission and LegitScript certified. They’re licensed by the Colorado Department of Human Services Office of Behavioral Health and are members of the Treatment Professionals in Alumni Services.

What stood out to me is that their clinical staff are highly skilled, trained and always trying to improve and enhance the services they provide. They are in network with most major insurances including TRICARE Prime. This goes in line with their military track for veterans and their families.

You will receive individualized treatment, even with their medication assisted treatment (MAT). This treatment is for adults only. Their staff will assess the severity of your addiction, your health history and your recovery goals. With this information, they will be able to tailor their approach to your needs. This can also include experiential therapy, which includes hikes, yoga, gym access, and even cooking classes for healthy eating.

They use buprenorphine, which is FDA approved. The medication will help stabilize you by easing your withdrawal symptoms and reduce your cravings for opioids. This allows you to focus on your recovery. They designed the program to fit into your everyday life. You are able to come in for your dosing and still attend to your responsibilities such as work, school and family.

You will not just receive medication alone. This service will be combined with outpatient treatment. They offer a partial hospitalization program (PHP) which is two to four weeks in length. You attend your therapy sessions five days a week for five hours a day. Their intensive outpatient program (IOP) is offered in person and virtually for a total of nine hours per week.
