About Action for a Better Community New Directions

Action for a Better Community New Directions is an outpatient substance abuse clinic in Rochester, New York serving individuals and families affected by alcohol and other drugs.

The program offers comprehensive outpatient treatment, medication assisted treatment and telehealth options, all delivered by culturally diverse certified health professionals.

New Directions provides comprehensive outpatient services including chemical abuse evaluations, individual counseling, group treatment sessions and family sessions.

The clinic also offers a medication assisted treatment program that combines FDA approved medications with mental health counseling. Services are available in person and via telehealth to fit different schedules and needs.

Who can get help at New Directions?

The program serves adults ages 17 and older, including pregnant and postpartum women, clients with HIV or AIDS, active duty military members, seniors and people involved in the criminal justice system.

New Directions specializes in treating clients with cooccurring mental and substance use disorders and those who have experienced trauma or sexual abuse.

Do they accept insurance or offer payment help?

The program accepts Medicaid, Medicare, sliding fee scales based on income and cash or self payment.

As a nonprofit, New Directions is not contracted with private insurance but does accept certain state financed health plans and Access to Recovery vouchers.
