Helio Health was formerly Syracuse Behavioral Healthcare and is a community organization that offers treatment and supportive services for individuals with substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders. The main office and most of the treatment facilities are in Syracuse, New York.
You can pay for the programs here with most major insurance plans or Medicaid, and they have an income based sliding fee scale for eligible individuals. Programs include inpatient detox, outpatient and inpatient treatment, opioid treatment, and impaired driver education. They have single room occupancy community residences for clients severely affected by mental illness.
Three Detox Centers for Your Convenience
This organization has multiple services to treat clients with addiction and co-occurring mental health disorders. For individuals who need detox, the treatment team will refer you to one of the organization’s three detox units, one of which is in Syracuse. The other two detox facilities are in Rochester and Binghamton.
The detox program offers priority placement to specific clients. These include clients whose substance use puts them at risk of losing custody of their children. They also prioritize pregnant IV drug users, pregnant women, and IV drug users.
Community Residence Program
The community residence program offers dormitory style housing for adults. Individuals must meet the criteria for serious mental illness (SMI) to be eligible for the residence.
The housing has secured reception areas and staff on site 24/7. The staff offers crisis intervention, skills coaching for activities of daily living, medication assistance, and recovery opportunities. They also help with recreational and social events.
The house is near downtown Syracuse, so there are nearby community resources and amenities. Public transportation is accessible, and the house is near the Onondaga Creekwalk, which features scenic lake views, public art, and paths for runners, walkers, and bikers.
