Employee Assistance Resource Services – Outpatient

About Employee Assistance Resource Services – Outpatient
EARS began providing Substance Abuse Treatment in May 1986 through the leadership of Dr. Simon Zysman for patients suffering from the disease of addiction and mental health related problems.
In order to combat the Opioid epidemic currently affecting patients and families on Long Island and in New York State, EARS has established a Part 822-4 Medically Supervised Outpatient Ancillary Withdrawal Treatment Program for patients who are experiencing Mild to Moderate Withdrawal from Opioid (Pain medication and Heroin).
EARS offers Outpatient Detoxification, which is a medical procedure designed to safely Detox patients suffering from mild to moderate withdrawal caused by Alcohol and Drugs, without having to be admitted to a hospital. Outpatient Detox has the advantage of causing minimal disruption to the patient’s day-to-day life. Effective detoxification is often the first step of the chemical treatment process and is an important and necessary part of the recovery process.
Upon admission to the outpatient program you will be greeted by our welcoming staff and will be oriented to the various substance abuse treatment services we provide. Each individual will meet with a professional member of our treatment team to develop an individualized treatment plan to meet your needs.

FAQs
Does Employee Assistance Resource Services offer medical detox in Smithtown?
Employee Assistance Resource Services in Smithtown provides outpatient detox services, meaning clients receive treatment while living at home rather than staying overnight at a facility. Outpatient detox is appropriate for individuals with stable housing and a supportive environment who can attend scheduled medical appointments for withdrawal management and monitoring.
What is the difference between outpatient detox and inpatient detox programs?
Outpatient detox allows individuals to receive withdrawal management and medical care during scheduled visits while maintaining their daily routine and home environment. Inpatient detox involves 24/7 medical supervision at a residential facility. Employee Assistance Resource Services offers outpatient detox for clients who are medically stable enough to manage withdrawal at home with regular clinical support.
Who is a good candidate for outpatient detox at Employee Assistance Resource Services?
Candidates for outpatient detox at Employee Assistance Resource Services typically have stable housing, reliable transportation to appointments, a supportive family or social network, and mild to moderate withdrawal symptoms. The medical team assesses each person during intake to determine if outpatient treatment is safe or if a higher level of care is needed.
What happens during the intake and assessment process for detox?
During intake at Employee Assistance Resource Services, staff conduct a medical and substance use history, assess withdrawal risk, evaluate living conditions and support systems, and determine appropriate treatment intensity. This assessment helps the clinical team create a personalized outpatient detox plan with scheduled appointments for medication management, counseling, and symptom monitoring.
How often do clients attend appointments during outpatient detox treatment?
Appointment frequency during outpatient detox varies based on individual needs and withdrawal severity. Employee Assistance Resource Services schedules regular visits for medical monitoring, medication adjustment, and clinical support. The facility’s medical team determines the appointment schedule during the initial assessment based on each client’s specific situation and detox goals.
