About Ready, Willing & Able
Ready, Willing and Able in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania provides structured transitional recovery housing in Philadelphia for adult men building stability after substance use disorder.
The program connects residents to external intensive outpatient programs and offers medication assisted treatment (MAT) when appropriate. However, its “work first” recovery residence model remains the central focus. Founded in 2001, this high-accountability approach is designed to help men move toward sobriety, full time employment and independent living.
Work First Transitional Recovery Housing
Ready, Willing and Able offers dormitory style transitional housing for up to 61 men ages 18 and older including those referred through the City of Philadelphia’s Office of Addiction Services.
Residents live in a structured environment where sobriety is strictly enforced with twice weekly drug testing and work is required as part of daily life. The residence provides three meals a day cooked on-site along with access to recreational spaces and computer labs.
Alongside work responsibilities, case managers meet with residents at least biweekly to build individualized service plans that address health, legal, financial, and employment goals. Residents often work in-house in roles like maintenance and food service with pay split so 53% to 60% goes toward savings or room and board. Many reviews highlight the sense of community and opportunity while also noting the program’s strict standards and expectations.
Support Services, Vocational Training, and Funding
In addition to recovery housing, Ready, Willing and Able provides vocational support such as job readiness, occupational training, and ongoing case management. The program also offers long-term graduate support including assistance securing independent housing and structured follow-up services.
Public information does not list direct private insurance billing. Participation is supported through referrals and funding connected to the City of Philadelphia including the Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual disAbility Services and the Office of Addiction Services.

This gives you a network of resources as you reintegrate into your daily life.
-
Sober Living
Sober living homes provide a supportive and substance free environment for you to live in as you overcome your addiction. Residents must follow house rules and support each other's recovery journeys. Sober living fosters accountability and stability during this critical phase of recovery.
